"FANCY SHAWL BUTTERFLY DANCER" - JASON FOBISTER
Jason Fobister lives in the First Nations Reserve of Grassy Narrows in Canada. His art is inspired by nature, humanity and love.
They created this dance because it was something energetic for women. They came up with the butterfly because they are vibrant and alive when it flutters. It is very beautiful to watch the colours move the way they do and there is a lot of strength in the dance. That is what the fancy shawl dancer is about.
It is about the butterfly protecting the dancer because that dancer is representing them as a living being in a dance to honor the butterfly. The power, the beauty and the grace of the butterfly dancer is what I wanted to capture in this painting.
