Jason Fobister lives in the First Nations Reserve of Grassy Narrows in Canada. His art is inspired by nature, humanity and love. 

"When a traditional dancer dances, people always see his power and steps and all the way how he is dressed. They are very fierce and brave but, they have a beautiful dance. When he grabs his whistle, it is a part of the eagle’s wing. The significance of the eagle whistle is to pray for people and for anyone who gave you a tobacco to blow the whistle at a pow-wow.

When you blow that whistle you are giving the eagle life again because you’re with the eagle and it is not all by your self. The painting to me has a lot of power because he is holding the eagle on his staff he is looking at it. He has so much grace and power that for the rest of his life he is going to be a dancer and cannot stop because it is for health and for enjoyment. That is what the dancer is doing he is bringing back to life to an animal which had a past and he is giving life to people who observe him dance. So that is the significance of this painting."
